What are we looking for?

Mama Africa will rent a house in the greater Nairobi area with at least 5 bedrooms, also the house should have a living room, kitchen, bathroom (shower) with toilet and extra toilet and a garden, and preferably a basement or storage room, a barbeque place and swimming pool would be nice. A possibility for WiFi internet reception and running water are a condition. The house should be rented for a minimum of 5 years (maximum 10 years), with a pre-purchase option at the end of the rental period. It should be possible to erect a workshop arbor on the garden area and to set up 2 tents.

What is the Mama Africa Community House for?

In the Mama Africa Community House shall live 3 volunteers who are able to pay 250,00 EUR (33,300 KES) rent each, the rest of the rent for the house will be paid by Mama Africa. Two of the volunteer rental places are still available, after application. It is also possible for 2 female volunteers to share a room, in which case the rent for each is half (125,00 EUR - 16,650 KES) - so a maximum of 4 female volunteers could still be accommodated. Applications ONLY female members please.

The Mama Africa Community House serves the following purposes:

- Strengthening the community of Mama Africa by living in the community house.

- Contact point for all members in Kenya and other African countries

- Overnight accommodation for the Board of Directors during visits to Nairobi

- Overnight accommodation for homeless children and single mothers with children

- Regular meeting place for the KENYA team of Mama Africa

- Office and delivery address for Mama Africa KENYA

- School for street children

- Work place for the 3-5 volunteers and for Edith

- Accommodation and workplace for the orphans Edith and Liseli (of course school and no work!) Tembo

- Storage for material and equipment for Mama Africa KENYA

- Place for the annual meeting and summer party of Mama Africa KENYA

- The house is to be equipped with solar panels

- A rainwater collection system will be installed

- In the garden, various cultivation experiments will be carried out and small animals (e.g. chickens) will be kept, as well as vegetables will be grown

How does the financing work?

The volunteers living there have to raise 750,00 EUR (100,000 KES) together, the rest of the rent is paid by Mama Africa. Furthermore Mama Africa pays

100,00 EUR (13,300 KES) food subsidy for cooking and housekeeping together

- 50% of the electricity costs

- Internet / WiFi costs

- Costs for water and waste

The financing is done by sponsoring, short term by loan, by family Rollfinke.
