What is Mama Africa?
Mama Africa is currently still a project financed by donations. We are still in the process of transforming this project, which does not yet have its own organizational form, into a non-profit association. Currently Mama Africa is legally a private initiative of the founder, Dipl.biol.univ. Stephan Rollfinke. The project is supported by his family and volunteers.
Neither the founder, nor his family, nor the volunteers receive any payments from Mama Africa for their work.
You are welcome to apply for membership now. Please provide us with your contact information (full name, city, country, whatsapp phone number, email address) and whether you would like to join
- as a volunteer

Membership application
Under the motto "Sustainability for Africa" we offer in our project / future association, help for self-help.
What are our plans?
A free language course opens among other things the possibility to learn the German language. This language course is aimed at all those who speak one of the languages:
- English
- German
- Kiswahili
- French
and want to learn another of these languages.
More comprehensive is the FREE online home tuition for students who speak any of the following languages:
- English
- German
- Kiswahili
- French
The first step was to set up a website called "http://www.mamaafrica.eu". In a second step, the entire website (except for the language course) will be set up for multilingualism throughout.
The free lessons of the language course are offered at https://www.mamaafrica.eu/project/home-schooling.
Please note the registration conditions: https://www.mamaafrica.eu/language-course for the language course.
Through this website you can learn online, even on your cell phone. Personal assistance in the form of Skype sessions or via WhatsApp and email will also be possible in the future, but must be arranged. In this way, pronunciation can also be trained and the sound of the language learned. Weekly WhatsApp online sessions are offered for this purpose.
Our philosopy of the GiveDirect CIRCLE
The main tool and key for sustainability is education. Within the GiveDIrect CIRCLE Mama Africa offers FREE education for Africans.
GiveDIrect TRAINING is the unit that delivers the content and organizes the studies in the GiveDirect CIRCLE.
All courses can be joined at any time, there are only 3 conditions
- membership at Mama Africa
- WhatsApp number
- E-Mail address
In GiveDIrect TRAINING the students qualify for their next step which is
GiveDIrect WORK.
After successfully absolving a given course combination students can apply to join the GiveDIrect WORK team.
They will then receive additional internal courses to prepare them for work in international environment.
After absolving successfully the training they are members of GiveDIrect WORK and join the platform where payed work orders will be posted. Also in co-operation with Angels GiveDIrect LTD, Kenya, job search and headhunting will be done.
If a student doesn't want to become employee but wants to be entrepreneur, he/she may join
GiveDIrect INVEST.
Here the GiveDIrect CIRCLE offers risk capital by business angels with a strong support for the new founded start-up.
As life shows… things can happen. And here comes the 4th element
GiveDIrect HELP.
If unexpected problems appear, eg. accident or health case, no money for data bundles, a new laptop or mobile is needed, there's GiveDIrect HELP to apply for a loan. All loan applications are checked by the HELP checkers group to verify the necessity and truthfulness of the application.
If the check is positive, the applicant gets the necessary amount from the Sponsoring group and has to pay back without interest (inflation rate has to be covered) within 5 years.
To receive help, some points have to be fulfilled, which are checked in the membership file. Necessary is a previous active participation as a volunteer and social engagement in our community. Mama Africa sees itself as a community and not only as an association. This requires a corresponding behavior, which is recorded in the membership file. Therefore, volunteers who are also students are given preference in the approval process. Only those funds can be spent that have been raised through sponsorship and budgeted for the appropriate period.

There are many reasons for Mama Africa.
Again and again, politicians emphasize how important it is to "fight" the reasons for migration to Europe in the countries of origin themselves. Already this choice of words bothers me personally. When it comes to the topic of migration, politicians spend most of their time and a lot of money on escalating the deterrence as much as possible. What is really being done in the countries of origin?
How sustainable is what is being done?
I would like to emphasize again:
There is nothing to fight. In my opinion, only help for self-help can bring about a sustainable improvement in living conditions in the countries of origin. Last but not least, the industrialized nations of the West owe the greatest debt. They have helped to cause the living conditions that are massively deteriorating due to global warming and their actions in colonial times. Of course, there are home-grown problems as well. But ordinary people are least of all to blame. But it is also not a matter of apportioning blame. The situation is so serious that many people set out on their journey, knowing full well that the risk of dying along the way is not small. If there were adequate conditions and future prospects in their home countries, they would certainly not embark on such a dangerous journey. But as long as the motto is: "I can find better things than death anywhere", migration will not be stopped. In particular, it will multiply due to the increasing water shortage. Therefore, isn't it much more reasonable to invest in the future of these people in a sustainable way instead of putting huge amounts of money, time and effort into pushing back and managing migration?
We at Mama Africa want to make a contribution. We don't want to talk, we want to do. We want to help sustainably with your help. Education is the most important step. In a knowledge society, countries and people can only participate if they participate in knowledge. This is where Mama Africa's help for self-help comes in. We want to make our contribution to sustainable development by offering education that is as low-threshold as possible. But this is not possible without you. We need your support to build up this offer.
Why is the project called "Mama Africa"?
The naming has something to do with the origin of mankind. All people in the world come from Africa. So Africa is the original continent of all mankind. All Africans can be proud of their continent, because it is the source, the origin and the starting point of humanity and its development.
Africa gave birth to the human children. From there they moved out and conquered all continents. This is already a reason to compare Africa with a mother. But it goes even deeper. Mama Africa is really meant seriously. The entire humanity that lives on earth today is descended from only seven mothers. From seven mother lines all humans on earth developed.
How do the scientists know this?
Well, you have to explain something. In almost all of our body cells there are small organelles that provide us with the energy to live. These organelles are called mitochondria. Once these were independent, bacteria-like living beings. They migrated into a cell with a cell nucleus and were not digested by the cell. This led to symbiosis. So both worked together. Each of the partners had a benefit from the other. But both also had their own DNA. The cell nucleus DNA and the mitochondrial DNA exist in parallel.
Now we have to go a little deeper.
When a sperm penetrates an egg cell, it only brings its nucleus DNA into the egg. A sperm is basically a DNA with a drive system. Nothing more. We all know that sperm comes from men. The egg cell comes from the woman. But what about the mitochondria?
Since the sperm only brings DNA, the mitochondria must be brought by the egg. So the mother always brings all the organelles, not just the mitochondria, for the future child. Mitochondrial DNA is only inherited through the mother. This is how a mother line is created.
Via this mother line, scientists were able to find out at the beginning of the third millennium by means of DNA analysis of the mitochondria that there are only seven different lines.
Therefore all humans on earth come from seven mother lines, which all have their origin from Africa.
Hence Mama Africa.
Mama Africa - Sustainability for Africa
What exactly is sustainability?
Sustainability rests on three pillars:
- Environment
- Social and cultural (communities)
- Economy
Seemingly irreconcilable overlaps are to be united in such a way that none of the areas misses out. Sustainability is not a static state that "only" has to be achieved and then lasts. Sustainability is, as in quality management, a process of constantly recurring adaptation, improvement and optimization.
Why is sustainability so important?
If one of the three areas were to get the upper hand, the others would suffer. Distortions and upheavals would occur in society. In the long run, these lead to tensions and violent upheavals. Thus, sustainability is also an approach to the ongoing balance of interests between groups and generations. We have only borrowed our world from our children. This is by no means just a romantic saying, but hard reality.
Sustainability within Mama Africa
How do we implement sustainability within Mama Africa as well?
The foundation of a non-profit association is intended to give the projects a permanent framework in which they can continue to work even after the death of the founder.
From the beginning, Africans were immediately involved in the project management with the strong team from Kenya. Of course we will be happy if we can win comrades-in-arms from other African countries as well. Even if the homeschooling area can be used internationally, the focus of our projects remains in Africa.
In our team rules we have decided that we will also help each other in emergency situations, and even give priority to this. Also, the voluntary work will not be continued forever, but we will try, in consultation with sponsors, to offer our team in Africa paid work for Mama Africa. We also think about courses, education and training for our employees, as well as the generation of jobs in Africa.
In the medium term, we plan to open an office in Nairobi. But for this we need the help of sponsors who donate regularly and / or sponsor salaries.
First of all, however, investments are now on the agenda, which are to serve in particular the account generation. We need good content that we can teach in the online homeschool.
Please help and become part of Mama Africa!
